As a New Yorker, I feel obligated to teach the rest of Oppo about the Hudson River. Many people don’t know its colorful history. For example, pictured above is the elusive flying Hudson flying over the Hudson. This is rumored to be the only photo ever captured of the flying Hudson flying over the Hudson in existence.
Did you know on January 15th, 2009, an Airbus A320 landed in the Hudson River? After nearly six years, the cause of the incident is still unknown, but reports state that the pilot saw the flying Hudson flying over the Hudson, said to the co-pilot: “pretty sure that’s a Duesenberg, bro”, lost control of the plane, and landed in the Hudson River.
Where the Hudson River got its name is also a widely debated subject. Some say it was named after Englishman Henry Hudson. Unfortunately for those people, this is hardly the case. The river was actually named after the 1949 Hudson Super Six.
I hope you enjoyed this installment in the Hudson - The Sights and Sounds series, and learned a lot! Keep your eyes peeled for the next one.
